ABOUT ELEOS

In ancient Athens, Eleos was the personification of mercy and compassion

The genesis of the shower Leg

In 2019 I became a below the knee amputee, but I refused to allow this setback to deter me from living a normal life. After nine weeks post op, I received my prosthetic and was quickly back to 90% of my normal routine, including stairs and even mowing the lawn. But one area that I dreaded was the shower. What used to take ten minutes now took over forty. The prosthetic had to be covered, shower benches had to be navigated, often times with help, and I could not properly wash my leg because of the covered prosthetic. All I wanted was to stand in the shower like before!

That is when the quest to find a solution began, but after an exhaustive search, I found nothing that allowed me to stand and shower. That’s when I decided to create my own solution. After locating a manufacturer and three revisions later, I have been using the prototype daily and love it! I can now say because of the shower leg, my life is back to normal.

If you are interested in maufacturing and distributing the shower leg, please contact us.

Launie, Inventor

It doesn't just impact the amputee

Eleos came to fruition when we, as a couple, were forced outside our comfort zone.  Not only did amputation change Launie’s life, but mine as well.  Launie initially needed help with everyday functions, and we did well for the most part, until it came to taking a shower. The psychological aspect of showering was as significant as the physical challenge.  He required help, and no longer being able to stand, he gave up his privacy. And I gave up my time as  I felt the need to be present in the event he needed additional help. No getting around it, this is the way it would be.

After mutual frustration, an exhaustive internet search began to find a product that would give Launie the freedom to stand independently while showering, but nothing was found. Thus, a mission began.  The Eleos Shower Leg is more than a shower prosthetic, it is mental freedom, self confidence, self sufficiency and getting one’s life back to normal.  It’s personal freedom for the end user and those involved in the amputee’s well being.

We do not expect every manufacture who views the Eleos Prosthetic  Shower Leg to manufacture it.  Those who do will embark on a life changing product that will allow thousands to return to a sense of normalcy. The next time you’re in the shower, imagine if you could not stand.
